With more than 30 years of customer service experience, Patricia Waldrop is one of the trusted voices guiding Ross Optical customers through every order. She ensures purchase orders are entered accurately, shipments stay on track, and communication flows smoothly between customers and production. Transparency is key, and Patricia makes sure customers always know what to expect.

Q&A with Patricia Waldrop

Tell me about your work at Ross Optical.

I support our customers by entering purchase orders, tracking shipments, and coordinating closely with Production to help ensure on-time delivery. My role focuses on communication, accuracy, and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes so customers receive the high-quality service they expect.

I came to Ross as a temp and fell in love with the company, the people, and the work. It’s a great atmosphere, and we’re always working on something new and interesting!

What’s a “day-in-the-life” look like for you?

A typical day starts with checking production and customer emails and identifying anything that needs immediate attention. Throughout the day, I respond to inquiries, follow up on orders, track shipment progress, and collaborate with our internal team to resolve issues as they arise. My work rhythm is a mix of communication, problem-solving, and order management.

What do you wish customers knew about Ross Optical?

I wish customers knew how dedicated we are to making sure their projects go smoothly. There’s a lot of coordination happening behind the scenes - constant communication with the Production team, staying on top of timelines, and resolving challenges quickly - to ensure they receive the best service possible. I think they would be impressed to see all the teamwork behind the scenes that goes into every single order.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Seeing positive results for our customers is the most rewarding part, whether it’s getting an urgent order out on time or resolving a problem quickly. Knowing that my efforts helped someone meet their goals is what keeps me motivated.

I also love working on satellite projects. It's exciting that Ross continues to grow and is always a part of new optical innovations.

What challenges are you working on now?

Right now, I’m focused on staying ahead of delays and keeping communication clear and efficient between production and customers. Managing timelines, especially when unexpected issues arise, is always an important area of focus.

Ross has strong systems in place, so when customers place an order, they don’t have to worry as much about supply chain issues. We keep up with the times, and whatever may be going on externally in the world, Ross makes sure their processes are as efficient as possible.

What are the most promising innovations you’re tracking or working on?

I’m always interested in improvements that streamline communication and order tracking; anything that helps us respond more quickly, spot issues earlier, and keep customers better informed.

What’s one fun fact about you outside of work?

A fun fact about me is that I absolutely love music - every genre. Music is life!
